Ahhh, the Holy Week holidays, a time away from work, a time to bathe in the beaches, to enjoy the sun, and visit new places...
But alas, I am now doing house repairs. It's quite fun and who said that you had to fear programmers (I'm one) who carries a screwdriver? Fear me more mortals, I carry handsaw, a hammer, a pint of nails, sandpaper, a crowbar, and the discounted $2 hacksaw (woot).
As of posting, this is Day 2 of my planned work (hey, you gotta plan it, I'm still developing something, need to break it into tasks.) Yesterday I tore down half a dozen ceiling pieces (48x24) that were badly damaged by water leaks. Made new ones and cleaned up the mess. I had then to go up the attic (I would call it an oven but we already have an oven at the kitchen) and looked for some rotten wood. I found 2, applied some treatment and went out of hell as fast as I could. Before sunset, I had to go up the roof and scrape old nail seals. I manage to scrape around 50 of them the first day, 60+ to go on the second day.
Today, I nailed the new ceilings and finished scraping the last of the nail seals. I started to apply new nail seals but unable to finish all by day's end. I'm looking forward to finishing it tomorrow. Then I had to plan when to paint it.
I learned a lot of things, that white roof color is the best to keep house temperatures down in summer (though I still have to test this, but I do like to paint it red again). Scraping old seals is the only way to ensure the water tightness of the new seals. I learned how to saw, but not properly though. Protective googles are the best when repairing ceilings, no more teary and red eyes. Wear gas masks or medical masks to minimize saw dust inhalation. When I woke up this morning though, I did have a lot of phlegm in my lungs.
Noticed anything yet, I'm just ranting.. Obviously I'm not really concerned much about all of that. What I'm concerned about is the pain. I'm a statue now and can only move my hands... The pain reliever does nothing! T_T
Anyway, have a nice Holy Week!

Is it great to start the year with movies?
Now that the boredom that is MMFF was gone, had there been good movies to kickstart the year?
I Am Legend was quite good but the ending seemed a little different than what I had expected. I was expecting something in the likes of the previous 2 movies of the same name. But it's not that bad, kind of putting an unexpected twist to the re-used idea. Nice acting there by Will Smith.
Haven't seen National Treasures 2 and One Missed Call yet but from what Rotten Tomatoes is saying, I'd say I will want to miss that call. I instead grabbed the original Japanese version (2004) and watched it. It was scary, definitely a two thumbs up Japanese horror film. I even got the ringtone, and I like it. ^^
I'm passing some free time now playing WOW or reading books. Currently I'm reading Freakonomics and liking it. Well not bad for the start of the year and so far I had not yet broke my resolution.

Happy New Year 2008
Tis the first crumb...
2007 is fading away fast and I had taken this opportunity to make another (yet another) New Year's resolution. I promise to share here life's little breadcrumbs that I would come across.
With that, I start my New Year. Happy New Year to all of you again...
